The Warbirds Over Wanaka DVD celebrates a golden age in aviation history. It is a masterpiece of aerial action, with the finest aerial displays of a large range of Vintage and Classic Warbirds aircraft, interviews with current and veteran pilots, all set amongst glorious New Zealand scenery.

The more recent C-17 Globemaster, the RAAF F-111 supersonic strike aircraft, plus Yurgis Karys and his aerobatic ‘Bandits’ team adds even more excitement into the mix.

Flying Legends is Europe's greatest warbird airshow and 2009 was no exception, dozens of aircraft gathered at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford for a spectacular display organised by The Fighter Collection and the IWM.

This official DVD of the show, originally in Broadcast Hi Definition captures all the action from both days of the show. Using multiple ground cameras and in-cockpit minicams, this DVD gets you closer than ever before.

Stars of the show for many was the first display of a Focke Wulf 190 in Europe and the three ship P-51 Mustang formation team - "The Horsemen".

Sunday 14th of June 2009. A lovely Summer’s day, with blue skies and puffy white clouds. Perfect for an airshow. Perfect, in fact for Royal Air Force Cosford to hold its annual big aviation event.

The Airshow was made very special by the 2009 public debut of the AVRO Vulcan. This was the first appearance of the recently restored aircraft at Cosford for 17 years. The intense interest in the Vulcan combined with the superb summer weather made this event a sell-out with 58,000 spectators attending.

On the second Bank Holiday in May, London and East Anglia turned its attention skyward for the Southend Festival of the Air 2009. The event is organised by Southend on Sea Borough Council and is free so draws massive crowds!

PlanesTV recorded the show with powerful cameras in High Definition which, coupled with the fantastic clear blue sky, deliver stunning close-up action.
Good RAF support meant that Southend saw the Red Arrows’ debut display of 2009 but the best was left till last with a dramatic reheat driven display by the Eurofighter Typhoon.

The weather came up trumps for Abingdon’s tenth anniversary show; crystal clear air and beautiful fluffy clouds so our high-definition cameras captured some breathtaking images.

An RAF C17 flyby and landing for static display astonished everyone with airborne and ground agility surpassed only by its spirited departure later. At the opposite end of the power and weight scale Guy Westgate (with our cockpit camera) did the same with his Swift glider.

More RAF support came from the Tutor, Hawk and the Chinook. The powerful twin-rotor heavy-lifter performed an extraordinary routine.

Priceless historic gems share the sky with modern military machines and some of the UK’s most gifted pilots showcase breathtaking aerobatics in one of the biggest airshows in the UK. Crown all that with the eagerly anticipated return of the Vulcan and the iconic sight of the Virgin Atlantic 747 in formation with the Red Arrows – all in fabulous clear weather - and you have a truly classic event. The Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Army Air Corps all supported in strength. Even the USAF mustered a rarely seen KC-135 tanker.

2008 was an extraordinary year for British Airshows and will be remembered for some extreme weather conditions.

The season started with Biggin Hill hosting the debut of the RAF’s spectacular Role Demonstration. The RAF Cosford show was an action packed 1 day event which witnessed remarkable aerobatic displays from the Blades and Denny Dobson.
