Avro Vulcan

The Avro Vulcan is a delta wing subsonic jet bomber that was operated by the Royal Air Force from 1953 until 1984. The Vulcan was part of the RAF's V bomber force, which fulfilled the role of nuclear deterrence against the Soviet Union during the Cold War. It was also used in a conventional bombing role during the Falklands conflict with Argentina. One example, XH558, was recently restored for use in display flights and commemoration of the employment of the aircraft in the Falklands Conflict. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Vulcan

RAF Cosford Airshow 2009 [ON Demand]

Sunday 14th of June 2009. A lovely Summer’s day, with blue skies and puffy white clouds. Perfect for an airshow. Perfect, in fact for Royal Air Force Cosford to hold its annual big aviation event.

The Airshow was made very special by the 2009 public debut of the AVRO Vulcan. This was the first appearance of the recently restored aircraft at Cosford for 17 years. The intense interest in the Vulcan combined with the superb summer weather made this event a sell-out with 58,000 spectators attending.

The Vulcan Effect [Blu-ray] [2009]

Something quite extraordinary happened to the UK airshow circuit in 2009; jammed telephone lines, inundated web sites, capacity crowds, eyes skyward straining for a first glimpse of...., lumps in the throat, tears of joy, stunned silences as the subject of all this thunders onto the scene and four Bristol Siddley Olympus engines developing 60,000 lbs of thrust tear the sky apart.

Superb vantage points along this beautiful stretch of Devonshire coastline give unique views of regular display aircraft such as the Red Arrows.

Rarer displays make Dawlish special too and locally based Hawker Hunter XE610 was a breathtaking sight. Flying low over the sea its display was complete with the sound of its beautiful ‘Blue Note’.
