Russian Knights

Even as the cold war drew to an end, no-one could have predicted the fantastic sights of awesome Soviet technology that we were destined to be seen at forthcoming airshows. The Bear and Backfire epitomise the dark threat that the West lived with for forty years whilst the Russian Knights team with six Flankers and the Rolls Royce powered Tu 204 herald a new era of friendship and co-operation.

Aviation Action cameras attended 14 airshows in 1991 and have drawn on the very best material in terms of weather and performance in compiling this thrilling video. The American aerial demonstration team 'The Thunderbirds' with 6 immaculate F16 Fighters visited our shores for the first time in 7 years and the dramatic events in the Soviet Union led to the first ever appearance of 'The Russian Knights' and their state of the art Sukhoi Su27 'Flankers'. Nearly half the video is devoted to these events.

This DVD features Scampton's July airshow with the Red Arrows, Vulcan, Lancaster and CFS types taking pride of place but with a wide variety of other aircraft too including a privately owned and beautifully restored Gnat as flown by the Red Arrows when they formed over 25 years ago. To many though, the highlight will be the 'Russian Knights' at Scampton in September. Our cameras caught all the action on the ground and, in the clear blue skies, their spectacular display.
