The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. It was one of the first true modern fighters of the era, including such features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear. The Bf 109 was produced in greater quantities than any other fighter aircraft in history, with a wartime production (September 1939 to May 1945) of 30,573 units. Fighter production totalled 47% of all German aircraft production, and the Bf 109 accounted for 57% of all fighter types produced.

The Shuttleworth Collection is unique in the fact that their museum exhibits fly. The Collection's aeroplanes currently span from the beginning of aviation history to teh Second World War.That's why airshows at Old Warden are particularly special, and on a hot and sunny day on June 6th 1993 the COllection's aeroplanes were joined by many other aircraft, includingthe P40 Kittyhawk, P38 Lightning and the Messerschmitt Me 109G - three rare airshow performers. With record crowds spectating we were treated to a truly vintage event.

Duxford '91 DVD
The most important newcomer to the Warbird scene in 1991 was the Me109G rebuilt at RAF Benson. Flying in public for the first time at Duxford's September show, the sight of a genuine Me 109 and the sound of its Daimler Benz engine was an enormous thrill.
Our video features this and concentrates on the Warbird action at the September and October shows.

The Biggin Hill International Air Fair is a 2 day event held in the Spring at the Historic RAF Battle of Britain base south east of London.
It's a very big show, attracting a variety of displays both military and civil. The enthusiast is always rewarded by something unusual like this years fly-bys by a Northwest Airlines Boeing 747.
