we got up to fairford the friday lunchtime. we had booked kempsford camp site for 3 nights so that we would be the closest possible to the airfield. we had bought our tickets for the 2 days, and were so looking forward to seeing the vulcan in the air again. but like so many people we were not to be that lucky. kempsford sent us to another camp site as thiers was waterlogged. probably should have sent alarms bells ringing! anyway we found the site which was the other side of the airfield, it didnt look too bad. as we were putting up the tent the 90 aircraft did thier flypast for the queen,which was fantastic, whet the appetite for the weekend. all afternoon the planes were practicing thier displays. all day the rain was on and off. then the whisper went round that saturday was cancelled, oh no! they would make an anouncement about the sunday saturday afternoon.the rest is history! we were towed out of the camp site saturday afternoon when we heard the show was cancelled sunday too. all the preparation that riat put in to the airshow, it makes you want to cry. i cant help thinking if only it was the weekend after! i found out to late that i could have used our tickets for farnborough. luv janie x
